How we review

Our methodology · Last updated June 2026

Every review on Alexandra Picks follows the same process. We publish this so you know exactly what our scores mean and where our information comes from.

What we look at

For each product we assess a consistent set of factors and turn them into sub-scores you'll see in the verdict box of every review:

How we gather information

We base reviews on hands-on use wherever possible, supplemented by the product's official documentation and by the consensus of large, public customer-review sets. When we cite a rating that comes from somewhere else — for example, a vendor's own reviews page — we say so and link to the source so you can check it yourself. We don't invent customer quotes or testimonials.

How we handle pricing

Prices change often, and many products run frequent promotions. We list typical current pricing and always tell you to confirm the live price on the official site before buying. If we notice a price is out of date, we fix it.

How scoring works

Scores run from 1 to 5. A high score means we'd comfortably recommend the product to the right person — not that it's perfect or right for everyone. Every review, no matter how positive, includes a genuine list of drawbacks and a clear "who should skip it" section.

How affiliate links fit in

Alexandra Picks is reader-supported, and some links are affiliate links that earn us a commission at no cost to you. Our scoring is done independently of those relationships. A commission does not buy a higher score, a better placement, or the removal of a drawback. If a product we earn from is worse than a free alternative, we'll tell you. See our affiliate disclosure for the full details.

Corrections

If you think we got something wrong or out of date, please let us know. We update reviews when products change and correct mistakes when they're pointed out.
